RIP Gary Gygax

Gary Gygax, co-creator of the Dungeons & Dragons role-playing game passed away earlier this week. Me and friends have gathered loads of times playing D&D (and later AD&D). Countless hours have been spent killing dragons, searching through caves and labyrinths for hidden treasures and anything else that might be waiting. It’s been a while since I have played now so I can’t say I know much about what Gygax have been up to lately. I am however grateful for the experience (no pun intended) he has given me through his work.

Roll in Peace Gary.

Guitar Hero

Last Saturday I bought Guitar Hero 3 Legends of Rock for my 360. A friend of mine was coming over to drink some beers and play.

It was the first time I had ever tried Guitar Hero and it was absolutely amazing. I had to start out on easy of course and after some tunes I got the hang of it. We played for hours and finished the game on easy and started on medium. It got a little harder because of the extra fret button (3 on easy, 4 on medium) and some faster strumming. The amount of beer might also have something to do with the fact that the songs were getting harder and harder.

I wish there were more songs though. I have downloaded some but it would be great to be able to DIY as well. I would instantly grab the latest Machine Head album (The Blackening) and play along. :)

I’m anxious to see if I’m able to do some songs on hard after I have done medium. Once I get another fret button I’ll probably just get dizzy while trying to play along. :p

Mass Effect once more

Yesterday I finished Mass Effect for the first time, and as soon as I had done that I just had to start at the beginning again. I started a new game with the same character (the default) so now I can hopefully get the 50th and 60th level achievements.

To get 100% on this game I would have to finish the game at least three times though… I’ll have to see if I think it’s worth it. I think the game is really good, so it’s not impossible that I will try to get 100%.

Now I am reading up on the Mass Effect wiki to try and get most of the missions and achievements in the game.

Mass Effect FTW!

Last week I started playing Mass Effect that I have had lying around since before Christmas. At first I somehow thought the graphics was kinda dull after playing through Assassin’s Creed which was absolutely beautiful. After a while I got used to how Mass Effect looks, and now I think it simply amazing. :) There are loads of stuff to explore and do so I guess I’ll play this game for a while.

I still have some achievements left in Assassin’s Creed though but since I managed to miss Conversationalist I have to play through the whole game once more to get 100%. Maybe I’ll do it sometime later when I’m done with Mass Effect. :)

Maps to Assassin’s Creed

If you’ve played through Assassin’s Creed and did not get all flags or did not kill all templars, you might want to check out Assassin’s Creed Interactive Maps for maps that includes locations for all you might have missed.

Update on Zend_BitTorrent and COD4

The Zend_BitTorrent component has been reviewed by the Zend people and it will live in the laboratory for a while to see if some more users are interested in such a component. I have a BitTorrent tracker written in PHP that I will make more generic and add that to the Zend_BitTorrent component. That would probably make it more interesting.

About COD4 … I am now finished with the game on Veteran difficulty… except for the last fucking mission on the airplane. I’m not sure if I’m able to do that one. I have only tried for about an hour though and have seen some different techniques on Youtube but at this moment it seems a bit too hard. I have Assassin’s Creed and Mass Effect lying around though, so I’ll get started on one of those soon as well. :)

Almost veteran!

Filed under: Games — christer @ 10:45 am

Yesterday I started playing through Call of Duty 4 on veteran difficulty, which is somewhat hard. I’m not really looking forward to doing the last level in 60 seconds though. I’ll probably get stuck for hours trying that stupid level. :)

Later today I might go and see I am Legend and hopefully I get to see the first movie about Arn later this week or sometime next week. I’m really looking forward to that.

Some gaming and Christmas

Filed under: Games — christer @ 1:07 pm

Yesterday I got some hours of Call of Duty 4 on my 360 while Tone was out with some of her girlfriends. I did not like it too much in the beginning, but after a while I got more into it, and now I can’t wait to play some more (which I will do in about 5 minutes). I also have Assassin’s Creed and Mass Effect lying around just waiting to be played.

I spent Christmas eve with Tone and her family this year. We had a nice time with very good food and drinks and lots of nice presents. Tone also liked the clothes I got for her, which was a relief. I thought I sucked at buying clothes but apparently I rocked. :)

Now Tone is out having a coffee with some more girlfriends and later on we are going to Tone’s parents for some Christmas brunch, so now I have to take care of some COD4 business!

Forgot to mention that I finished Gears of War on insane the other day. It’s not really that hard. I’m gonna fire up Halo 3 later today. :)
