Climbing in Italy

In a couple of days I will be heading to the north of Italy with a couple of friends to do some climbing for a couple of weeks. I’m really looking forward to it. I’ll miss my girlfriend a lot though but she will be waiting for me when I come home :)

Hopefully I will be able to take a lot of pictures. I’m not sure if I’ll bring my 350d because we will be climbing longer routes with 7+ pitches and it’s not that cool to carry a heavy backpack because of a camera when you’re 600+ feet above ground. I’ll probably bring it along but I’ll use Tone’s smaller ixus in the mountains I guess.

I hope to be able to finish my porch tomorrow. I’m not sure if I have enough time, but I’ll try. :)

Building a porch - Day #6

I managed to do some work today as well! :)

Now I have put two boards in the bottom of the porch in the front so it looks better and I have also put on the beams in between all the other beams in the front so I have something to put the front boards on. Hopefully I will be finished in a day or two. :)

My girlfriend took some pictures of yours truly so you can see the computer programmer who likes to do some carpenting in his sparetime.

Building a porch - Day #5

Now I have finished putting the floor boards on the porch along with all the beams in front that will be used for the top of the railing (I’m not sure if thats what it’s called). I have to put beams in between the ones in the front to be able to put on the railing boards.

Building a porch - Day #4

Well … not everything went according to “the plan” so I had to redo some of the beams today. The fact that today is a Sunday (and a rainy one as well) did not help much. Anyways, I’m done with the boards and tomorrow I can start on the floor (at least I hope so).

Korn @ Norwegian Wood

Yesterday I saw Korn at Norwegian Wood in Oslo. The festival started with Enslaved, then Evanescence, and then Korn. I was there with some friends from work and my neighbour.

I was there last year as well to see Korn, but they cancelled and Turboneger played instead which was a major bummer.

Korn was great live, and they also played an excerpt from Metallica’s One which was what I was hoping for. :) They played a new song that is supposed to be on the new album that is coming later this year or something.

After the festival we went to a party with a company that we (at work) work with and stayed there almost all night long drinking beer and having a nice time.

Building a porch - Day #3

Today I have made all the cylinders for the underlying beams. I worked about 8 hours today doing this, and considering yesterdays activities, I’m pretty satisfied with myself.

If everything works out fine, I can start putting some of the floor boards on tomorrow. :)

Building a porch - Day #2

Today I managed to dig up all the holes that the cylinders will stand in. The holes in the garden was a lot easier to dig up then the others, but the ones close to the house took that much time so I did not manage to do more.

Lillebjørn is back!!

Yesterday I drove around looking for Lillebjørn, and I found her! She was very thin so it does not look like she has had too much to eat since she disappeared.

When she got home she ate loads of food and then went to sleep in my bed. :) It’s nice to have her back. Stratos seemed happy about it as well.

Building a porch - Day #1

Today I started building my porch. Well, it’s not exactly a porch but since I don’t know the english word for it, I’ll call it a porch. :)

As you might see from the pictures I did not manage to do much. I started digging some holes for the cylinders that will support the beams that the floor boards will rest upon. The ground close to the house was very hard and filled with rocks so it took me a while to dig. I have to borrow a tool from a friend that I can use to split some of the rocks to dig them up.

Hopefully I will be able to do some more tomorrow.

Lillebjørn is missing

One of my two cats is missing. She has been gone for almost a week now. Stratos (The other cat and Lillebjørn’s daughter) is acting all weird. She is probably worried and misses the company. Hopefully she will come back soon.

I have had Lillebjørn for about 7 years now and it’s weird to now have her around.
